Feature Request: Idle Test Cycle Reminder & Smart Slot Management

The Problem: Nowadays, test invitations are quite limited. Sometimes a tester accepts an invitation but doesn't actually start working on the cycle, leaving the slot unavailable for other testers who are ready and willing to test. This affects work-product coverage because active testers cannot participate while the reserved slot is not being used. I suggest adding an idle reminder and smart slot management system: - If a tester accepts a cycle but doesn't show any testing activity for a certain period, send them an email/notification reminding them that they can leave the cycle without affecting their profile or rating. - If they don't respond or start working within an additional grace period, the system could make the slot available for another tester. However, testers should have an option like "I am facing an issue" or "Keep my slot" with a reason in case there is an environment or technical issue. - The system could also track testers who repeatedly accept cycles but end up with **0 activity/0 points**, and apply a suitable impact such as reduced invitation priority or another activity-based measure. How Will It Help? - Better work-product coverage because more available testers can participate. - More opportunities for active testers who are actually ready to work. - Prevent situations where testers select devices they don't currently have and only start testing after half of the test duration has already passed when they gain access to all required devices. - Some experienced testers, such as Level 5 testers, may accept cycles but decide not to work on them because they have already tested similar products before. Releasing inactive slots would allow other testers, including lower-level testers, to contribute and help find bugs in new areas that may have been missed. The goal isn't to punish testers, but to make sure test cycle slots are available to people who are actually ready to work on them and maximize coverage for every work product.

Nice idea, I agree to the most of it, Specially for this part: the system could make the slot available for another tester if a tester was idle for a long period of time.

Totally agree! Nothing is more frustrating than seeing a slot blocked by ghost inactivity. I really like the non-punitive approach with the reminder and the 'technical issue' option – it leaves a clean way out for well-intentioned people. That way, the spots are left for those who are itching to test 🙂.

100% agreed. This is a very much-needed action for testers who accept invitations but are unable to contribute to the test cycle. It would help ensure that available slots are given to testers who are actually ready and willing to test, while also improving overall work-product coverage. The goal should not be to punish inactive testers, but to make sure valuable testing opportunities are not blocked unnecessarily. A smart idle reminder and slot-release mechanism would be a great improvement for the testing community.
